Interior Design
Located in the former Duke of Wellington pub on Nile street, Counter 71 is InterestingProject's latest food and beverage design project. The brief for the 16-person counter-style dining restaurant was to create an intimate space for a premium omakase experience.
Focusing on the performative aspect of this dining style, we intentionally created two areas in contrasting colours, surface finishes and lighting.
The kitchen - ‘the stage’ - is a darker space that mutes the backdrop and places the food assembly as the restaurant's primary focus. The seating area - ‘the audience’ - is a curved marble counter with warm lighting, textured walls and green tones inspired by the existing (and retained) stained glass exterior.
